CONCURRENT AND GOTUIT TEAM UP TO INDEX ON-DEMAND CONTENT
Indexing Enables Consumers to View Content Based on their Preferences
Atlanta, GA (May 12, 2003) – Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, and Gotuit Media (www.gotuit.com), the leading provider of segment navigation software and indexing services for the digital TV industry, today announced an alliance to develop the next step in digital television – indexing, Everything-On-Demand content.
Gotuit Media and Concurrent have formed an alliance to integrate Gotuit Media’s patented indexing solution for on-demand video content, called Gotuit On DemandT with Concurrent’s MediaHawk® Broadband VOD Platform. This integration will enable consumers to view selections and segments of on-demand content – movies, network news programs, music videos, sporting events and more – so they can watch just the specific content of interest to them.
“Rather than watching a time-shifted football game in its entirety, you will be able to watch a condensed version at your own pace, follow just your favorite players or watch personalized highlights of the game over and over,” said Jim Logan, CEO of Gotuit Media. “The user experience provided by Gotuit and Concurrent will bring an unprecedented amount of new content into the on-demand world – this is the true essence of Everything-On-Demand,” he added.
Working with Concurrent’s MediaHawk VOD Platform, Gotuit On Demand will combine metadata with digitally recorded video content, thereby allowing consumers to quickly access the best parts of a show. With existing remote controls, users can “segment surf” through content stored on the VOD server, watch a variety of interactive playlists, and save favorite scenes to a personal vault for later viewing.
