SCRIPPS NETWORKS PARTNERS WITH GOTUIT MEDIA FOR VOD TRIALS WITH TIME WARNER CABLE
Gotuit and Scripps Demonstrate the Power of On Demand with Time Warner Cable of Maine
Andover, MA (March 8, 2004) - Gotuit Media Corp., the leading provider of navigation technology and indexing services for on demand content, today announced that it has reached an agreement to power Scripps VOD products including: Home & Garden Television On Demand, Food Network On Demand, DIY On Demand and Fine Living On Demand. Initial trials are in place with Time Warner Cable of Maine and will leverage Gotuit's next generation VOD technology to provide cable subscribers with complete control over their viewing experience.
"We look forward to working with Gotuit Media on our Scripps channels with Time Warner Cable of Maine," said Channing Dawson, senior vice president of emerging media for Scripps Networks. "There are many practical applications for Gotuit's VOD technology that will work well with our HGTV, DIY, Fine Living and the Food Network interactive lineup. Allowing subscribers the ability to navigate our content and view precisely those segments of the program that they are most interested in introduces the next evolution of TV viewing behavior, which is a natural fit for our viewers."
Under terms of the agreement, the Scripps content will be enhanced with Gotuit's technology, providing Scripps Networks' on demand viewers with direct access to segments of their favorite programs. Using a standard remote control, viewers can select segments of a stored program and immediately watch just those parts of the show.
"We are excited to work with Scripps Networks on this new set of trials with Time Warner Cable of Maine," said Mark Pascarella, president of Gotuit Media. "Gotuit is a perfect enhancement to Scripps Networks, which has built its reputation on staying ahead of the curve. This new platform for content consumption is evidence of that. We are confident the Scripps/Gotuit partnership will drive both consumer loyalty and profits for the cable industry."
Scripps Networks will be trialing Gotuit On Demand on the following channels for its Time Warner Cable of Maine customers:
