CTAM Summit 2004,Boston, MA (July 19, 2004) – Gotuit Media Corp., the leading platform provider for next generation video-on-demand, today announced an agreement with Kung Fu Records, a worldwide independent record label dedicated to punk rock music , to bring Kung Fu Records’ music videos and live concert footage to cable television subscribers in an on-demand environment. Gotuit is adding Kung Fu Records’ music video content to its Gotuit Music On Demand Service, allowing cable operators to give their subscribers first-time access to one of the most extensive on-demand collections of punk rock music programming that exists today. Gotuit Music On Demand empowers viewers to be their own ‘Video Jockey’ by creating a personalized music video viewing experience where they decide what videos get played.
Kung Fu Records is home to some of the most popular punk rock bands including the Vandals, The Ataris, Blink 182 (their first album), Tsunami Bomb, Bigwig, Antifreeze, Useless ID and Ozma, to name a few. Kung Fu Records also has one of the largest and most extensive high quality catalogs of punk rock live concerts including “The Warped Tour,” “Reel Big Fish”, “Goldfinger,” and “Guttermouth.” Selections from Kung Fu Records’ comprehensive library of punk rock music videos and live concert footage will be accessible from the Gotuit Music On Demand Service.
Powered by Gotuit On Demand tm, a patented navigation platform that combines segment metadata with on-demand video content, Gotuit Music On Demand allows digital cable subscribers to personalize their viewing experience by selecting just the music videos, or parts of a video, they choose to watch. Viewers can browse and select specific Kung Fu Records’ content from either a Kung Fu Records-branded music block or from the punk genre block within Gotuit Music On Demand.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Gotuit Media to bring our library of music videos and live concerts to the world of on demand,” said Joe Escalante, president of Kung Fu Records. We’re excited about this new service, which will allow us to extend our brand to the on-demand world, and allow punk rock music fans more opportunities to enjoy their favorite bands in a more personalized and rewarding manner.”
“By adding Kung Fu Records to the Gotuit Music On Demand Service, we now can offer cable operators and their subscribers the industry’s most extensive collection of on-demand punk rock music videos and live concert footage,” said Mark Pascarella , president of Gotuit Media Corp. “It’s this type of personalized viewing experience that will help cable operators generate new revenues by giving consumers complete control over what they watch, when they watch, and how they watch television. ”
The Gotuit Music On Demand Service houses the largest on demand library of music videos and related content that exists today, including hundreds of music video programs from leading content providers. Gotuit gives cable subscribers instant access to the hottest music videos – empowering viewers to be their own ‘VJ’ by creating a personalized music video experience. Viewers can select from a variety of pre-programmed genre-based music video blocks, artist spotlights, reviews, discographies, and concert footage. Through an on-screen menu, subscribers can browse and select specific music videos in a program block for immediate viewing, or navigate to the next or previous music video. Additionally, in the future, viewers will be able to create their own playlists of videos, rather than have the videos ‘pushed’ to them. They can also watch videos in full screen and still navigate from video to video. A market test of the Gotuit Music On Demand Service is currently underway with a major U.S. cable MSO.
