GOTUIT MEDIA EXPANDS ON DEMAND REPERTOIRE WITH VAGRANT RECORDS’ PUNK MUSIC VIDEOS

Vagrant’s Music Videos and Live Concert Footage Now Available as Part of Gotuit Music On Demand

Andover, MA (August 23, 2004)–Gotuit Media Corp., the leading provider of next generation video-on-demand products, today announced an agreement with L.A.-based Vagrant Records, a prominent independent record label dedicated to punk rock music , to distribute Vagrant’s music videos to on-demand platforms through its Gotuit Music On Demand Service. By adding Vagrant Records to Gotuit Music On Demand’s growing roster of artists, music videos and live concert footage, operators can offer their on demand viewers access to an extensive library of today’s popular punk rock music programming. Gotuit Music On Demand empowers viewers to be their own ‘Video Jockey’ by creating a personalized music video viewing experience where they decide what videos get played.

Vagrant Records is home to punk pinups Dashboard Confessional and other popular punk rock bands including Alkaline Trio, Reggie And The Full Effect, Face To Face, The Get Up Kids, Hot Rod Circuit, Rocket From The Crypt, Saves The Day, Paul Westerberg, Senses Fail, From Autumn to Ashes, and others. Selections from Vagrant Records’ comprehensive library of punk rock music videos will be accessible from the Gotuit Music On Demand Service.

Powered by Gotuit On Demand tm, a patented navigation platform that combines segment metadata with on-demand video content, Gotuit Music On Demand allows digital subscribers to personalize their viewing experience by selecting just the music videos, or parts of a video, they choose to watch. Viewers can browse and select specific Vagrant Records’ content from either a Vagrant Records-branded music block or from the alternative genre block within Gotuit Music On Demand.

“We’re very excited to be working with Gotuit Media to bring our library of increasingly popular artists and music to our fans in the on demand arena,” said Dan Gill, general manager at Vagrant Records. “We see huge potential with this new service, as it will allow us to extend our artists’ ability to connect with their punk rock music fans in the growing on demand market, while creating a new, more rewarding viewing experience for fans who can now have complete control over what videos they watch, how they watch them, and when they watch them.”

“Today, Vagrant Records is thriving by releasing consistently urgent and popular albums by the likes of Dashboard Confessional, and we’re thrilled to be adding them to our service,” said Mark Pascarella, president of Gotuit Media Corp. With Gotuit Music On Demand, operators will be in a unique position to drive new revenue by offering their digital subscribers the most advanced music television experience that exists today.”

The Gotuit Music On Demand Service houses the largest video on demand library of music videos and related content that exists today, including music video programs from leading content providers such as the Universal Music Group, Kung Fu Records and now Vagrant Records. Gotuit gives subscribers instant access to the hottest music videos – empowering viewers to be their own ‘VJ’ by creating a personalized music video experience. Viewers can select from a variety of pre-programmed genre-based music video blocks, artist spotlights, reviews, discographies, and concert footage. Through an on-screen menu, subscribers can browse and select specific music videos in a program block for immediate viewing, or navigate to the next or previous music video. In the future, viewers will be able to create their own playlists of videos, rather than have the videos ‘pushed’ to them. They can also watch videos in full screen and still navigate from video to video. A market test of the Gotuit Music On Demand Service is currently underway with a major U.S. cable MSO.

About Vagrant Records

The independent beat of Vagrant Records has been going strong for over a decade, with no sign of stopping soon. Even today with the merging and monopolization of big record labels, Vagrant keeps an independent identity that is the lifeline of the company. Untouched by the cookie-cutter sounds and images of today's mainstream music scene, Vagrant prides itself on its diverse and progressive bands and voracious, loyal fan base.

Staying afloat in this ever-changing business requires a love for music and a devotion to the underground scene, not found in big business labels. Although Billboard magazine's January 2004 issue hailed Vagrant as one of the top five independent labels nationwide, the label is still fighting a constant battle to make a name for itself. A recent article in The New York Times on the decline in record sales said, “by no means have the independents escaped the music business’ three-year slump, but Vagrant is one of the many independent labels having some success,” (Dec 2003), reminding us that we can never rest on our laurels. Backed with a solid roster of artists and teams of devoted employees, Vagrant realizes what it's up against, and it's ready for the fight. There's a reason for the boxer icon!
